This is a VERY EASY pattern for a sophisticated striped blanket. It features 3 different colored worsted weight yarns and knits up quick on a US 11 (8 mm) circular knitting needle. The pattern below is sized for a baby blanket but you can increase the stitch count to make a perfect throw for when you are relaxing on the couch.
4 3.5 oz. skeins of soft or baby worsted weight yarn
US 11 (8mm) knitting needles
A= light pink (2 skeins)
B= dark pink (1 skein)
C= lavender (1 skein)
Cast on: 109 sts. with yarn A.
Rows 1 and 2: Working back and forth on circular needle as if working on straight needles, with A, knit.
Row 3: K1 with B, *k1 with C, k1 with B, rep from * across. (right side RS)
Row 4: K1 with B, *p1 with C, k1 with B, rep from * across.
Rows 5 and 6: With A, knit.
Row 7: K1 with C, *k1 with B, k1 with C, rep from * across.
Row 8: P1 with C, *k1 with B, p1 with C, rep from * across.
Rep Rows 1-8 until piece measures about 48 in. from beg, end with a Row 6. Bind off.
From RS, with A, pick up and k 82 sts along one long side of the blanket. Knit 1 row. Bind off. Repeat edging on remaining long side of the blanket. Weave in ends.
